Another season comes to a close.

The culmination of hard work, dedication, and maxed out credit cards is something of an inevitability for a paintball player returning from the final National X-Ball League event in Kissimmee, Florida. While only a few return champions, the majority of players coming home harbor bittersweet memories of what they could have done to win “World Cup”.

PPS-SFO was part of the latter.

After a nail-biting victory over the “All Americans” in the 1/8 single elimination round, PPS-SFO fell to “Paintball Charleston” to determine who would move on to the semi-finals. Though the 8th place finish led much to be desired, it highlighted the potential that those on the team have to achieve first place in the future.

Despite a frustrating finish, the players on PPS would not be coming home empty handed. Through the collaboration and hard work of those at Dye Paintball, 21 custom “Team Edition” markers were created for the 2019 season.

A 19 year veteran of the sport, co-captain Brice Bohannon was amazed with the level of detail and craftsmanship put into each marker.

"Dye killed it with the M3+. It is a completely different gun over the previous iteration. Not only is it super smooth but it is also easy on brittle paint while still maintaining premium efficiency. It is everything a high end gun should be," Brice Bohannon said.

Alongside a new marker, PPS-SFO will continue their multi-year sponsorship program with Dye Paintball going into the 2019 season. Team owner and player Brock Bohannon said that he was impressed with the level of dedication that Dye has shown over the last year.

“We are looking forward to spending another year with Dye,” Brock Bohannon said. “Their outstanding support, either on or off the field, has impressed everyone on the team.”

Looking forward to the 2019 paintball season, PPS-SFO hopes to improve across all divisions of play - including ventures into the newly formed International Classic Paintball League (ICPL). A subsidiary of the NXL, the ICPL pays homage to the roots of paintball by playing on various types of fields including: woods, hyperball, and mounds.

Furthermore, PPS-SFO will also continue to participate in the United States X-Ball League (USXBL) in Texas, as well as select NXL events.

“It’s going to be a really busy year,” Brock Bohannon said. “With new players joining our lower divisional lines, the amount of time and effort put into maintaining cohesion between players and staff is almost like a full-time job.”
