Here in North Texas, early February is one of the most polarizing months of the year. From weekend to weekend, both weather and time play hand in hand to make practicing a difficult endeavor. For those on PPS-SFO's multiple lines, this last weekend was difficult to say the least. For lower divisional players preparing for the Star Series "Cash Days" event February 16, 2019, the need to get valuable looks at the layout was paramount.
With the teams practice revolving around formulating potential game plans and fine tuning players' abilities, the conditions were far from ideal. As temperatures lingered around the mid-30's throughout the weekend, the cold weather played a critical role. Essentially a gel-capsule, paintballs have a temperature sensitive shell that separates easily in cold weather. This sensitively leads to breakage inside the marker, even when using a special formula designed for cold weather.
Coming from a family of paintball players, Korbin Bohannon is no stranger to the community. When asked about how he felt about the start of the new season, Korbin was anxious but optimistic about his first tournament.
"I feel excited but a little nervous at the same time," Korbin said. "I think we should be ready and it should be a good first event for us to wet our feet."

Additionally, Korbin was happy with how practice went despite the poor conditions.
"It went better than I thought it would. The beginning of the day was really good, but we kind of fell short towards the end of the day," Korbin said
Being held at Paintball Fit in Waxahachie, TX, the Star Series "Cash Days" follows a successful XTPL series event in quick succession.
Team co-owner and Korbin's father, Brice Bohannon, led the teams practice on and off the field throughout the day. While most of Brice's time has been spent playing, the emergence of his son's commitment to the game has brought an interesting dynamic to the team.

"Having Korbin play paintball is amazing, and I am stoked to be able to watch him play and grow in this sport," Brice said.
Furthermore, Brice was adamant about how a parent can be involved in their child's paintball experience.
"The best thing I can tell you is to be involved, whether that's playing with your child, helping at tournaments, or whatever else you can do to help out," Brice said. "The time spent with them is something you can't replace and it goes by fast."
